The stately Vaucluse House in Sydney's exclusive Eastern suburbs was built in fits between 1805 and the 1860s in a mixture of styles such as its venerable Gothic Revival facades.
The 19th century leafy estate on which the three-storey mansion is built boasts a kitchen wing, stables and outbuildings surrounded by 27 acres of gardens and grounds. Its builder, William Charles Wentworth, one of our early colonial statesmen, also lived there with his wife Sarah and family from 1827-1853.
Remember to visit the small store that sells contemporary gifts inspired by yesteryear and also the Vaucluse House Tearooms.
