It's back and i didn't even know! It's The Pirates of Penzance!
Unforgettable melodies, tongue-twisting songs, pirates! This opera has it all, there’s something in it for everyone and I'm pretty sure a friend of mine has been in a production of it! As one of the world's most popular operas, it's been around since it wowed Americans in 1879.
This from the Opera House site:
In spite of being apprenticed to a Pirate King as a child, Frederic has led a very sheltered life. So when he arrives in Penzance with his boisterous shipmates, there are a few surprises in store for him! It all ends happily, but not before he's dodged the Old Bill, fallen in love and made some rather inconvenient discoveries. Anthony Warlow stars as the soft-centred Pirate King.
So for some light hearted and excellent entertainment, get yourself down to the opera house while it's still on, it'll be around until early November, tickets starting from $45 up to $147. However, to really maximise your pirate palate, how about you go on September 19th, which just happens to be... INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY! This annual 'holiday' is a bloody hilarious invention and it would be a brilliant day to celebrate all things pirate...
