The English love Australia, especially Sydney, and why wouldn't they? Everyone speaks English, there are enough pubs here to run into one with your eyes closed, we've got year around great weather and there's no Royal Family to make us feel uncomfortable, like we're visiting a fancy aunt.
As a result, travellers from the UK flock here like seagulls flocking like a Flock of Seagulls, spreading around their high-valued currency, invading our beaches and eating our oysters.
You can't really blame them, though, and the Guardian tries its best to set up the tourists with a little guide to Sydney's best kept spots.
Luckily, the Guardian misses all the spots that I go to, like the Japanese joint in the city, with the best salmon spaghetti I've ever tasted, or the little Shanghainese place that does those sticky, tarred ribs, but they try to direct their hordes of hungry tourists to some of the pricier places:
In fact, after reading the article, I feel pretty safe... it doesn't scratch the surface of what Sydney has to offer, only suggesting the 2nd-level attractions... instead of going to Manly, they say, go to Shelley Beach.
Alright with me - I'll just enjoy my tourist-free spots along the shore just fine!

"Bills is something of an Australian institution, part of the culinary empire of Bill Grainger. The Darlinghurst cafe (there are two others in Surrey Hills and Woolahra) is simply and brightly decorated with a large central communal table where solo diners can read the papers or chat. I was there for breakfast and from the relatively short menu went for the scrambled eggs with apple cured bacon. "
