The Animania Festival

Category: Festivals & Shows
Personally, I could never really get into the anime scene. Sure, I watched cartoons in my younger years, but I was never really all that interested in anime in particular. However it seems like cartoon purists (enjoying cartoons of the Warner Brothers bloc, etc.) along with myself, are a dying breed. The groundswell for anime in Australia, and across the globe is increasing, and quickly at that.
The inaugural Animania festival took place in 2002 and this year will be the fifth consecutive running, which has now expanded to running a prelude in August and another event in October, not only in Sydney, but in Melbourne and Brisbane as well.
The festival coming up in August gives anime artists the opportunity to sell there work (and hence an opportunity for you to buy some too), there will be workshops run by professionals from Japan, stalls to buy anime merch, karaoke and of course anime screenings.
The festival will run from 10am to 4pm at the Carlton Crest Hotel, 169-179 Thomas St in Sydney (close to central station). Tickets are $15.
