Sydney Swans vs Collingwood

Barry Hall
Barry Hall is in a form slump, and the Swans need to win this one.

Saturday the 23rd of June.

The swans play Collingwood this Saturday (23rd of June) in what is being billed as a blockbuster AFL match. I'm not sure why it's being billed as a blockbuster -- can anyone clarify?

Barry Hall the Swans co-captain has kicked just 22 goals during the first half of the season. He would probably be expected to have kicked at least twice that. Barry's form slump is the main reason the Swans are languishing down at 10th place on the latter.

If they manage to defeat the 5th placed crows they will jump up to 4th place. Not sure how that works, the top eight must be very tightly packed.

Hall has been joking recently that if things don't pick up he might be better off taking up boxing again, which was a boyhood pursuit of his. That explains a lot.

Should be a big match anyway, and the Swans have it all to play for so expect fireworks.

It's being billed as a blockbuster because it is expected to attract a big crowd. Most of the games at at the SCG, which only has a small capacity during the building work. But this one's at Telstra so plenty more people can come.
Plus there's a rivalry between the Swans and Collingwood. The Swans don't like Collingwood because Magpies president Eddie McGuire has made some very anti-Swans comments, while Collingwood don't like the Swans because of Nick Davis switching clubs. So there'll be some passion in this game.
I'll be there.

The Magpies couldn't give a rats clacker about the Swans. You've been sold a pup cobber.

The Pies & Swans have swapped players for years.

The Pies rivals are Essendon, Carlton & Richmond.

The Swans actually have no real rivalry.

All clubs think or want to be Pie rivals but it is usually in their own imagination.

Well after tonight's game, Bazza's slump is certainly an ongoing problem.

Once again......

3 average games does not constitute a form slump.

The last time a Pies/Swans match had a greater winning margin than 20 points was '99.
The 2 sides match up well.

A combination of getting numbers back & blocking space & Hall dropping all his marks gave him bad stats but he presented all night.

The Woods won the midfield in the first 3 quarters.
It is the midfield who kicks to the forwards.

The problem wasn't Hall.
The problem was zero output from Micky O who got towelled by 'veteran' Tyson Moneybags & to a lesser degree Schneider & O'Keefe's output.
