Robbie Williams World Tour

I decided when I first started writing this blog, I would try to be as impartial as possible, covering any event of particular interest in Sydney regardless of what i though about it - provided it was worth while. I think this is the first time I’ve posted an event that was of no special or of particular interest to me. Well that’s not completely true - I love gigs, music and have respect for performers who can bring people together.
The event I’m talking about is the "Robbie Williams: Close Encounters" World Tour. For those informed readers, you would possibly be aware that Robbie doesn't hit Australian shores until December - however the tickets go on sale on sale early this month. You might be saying to yourself "Why would i need to know so early about the tickets? Surely there are enough for everyone?" Well my friends, the impressive fact is that Robbie Williams holds, in The Guinness Book of World Records, the record for the fastest and largest number of concert tickets ever sold in one day... That’s 1.6 million tickets sold in ONE DAY. Sure that was in Europe, but would you really want to underestimate the man's fan base here in Sydney?
So when exactly are the "Robbie Williams: Close Encounters" tickets on sale? Well for the Sydney, Australia performance at Aussie Stadium, the tickets go on sale at 9am, Tuesday the 6th of June (that 06/06/06... coincidence?... I think not). So if you're a massive Robbie Williams fan, you might want to be sitting at your computer madly hitting the refresh button - and if you're extremely lucky you might just score some tickets...
The capacity of Aussie Stadium is about 42,000 (seated) plus i would imagine a few thousand General Admission tickets in the middle. The tickets are on sale on the Ticketek website and there are 2 advertised prices for "Robbie Williams: Close Encounters" - Gold Reserve Seating will set you back $149.95 and Silver Reserve Seating will cost you $99.95... So assuming they sell 45,000 tickets, this single event - a 2 hour gig - is worth at least a cool half mil in ticket sales alone... coooool...
Here's another fun fact: 57 semi-trailers are needed to transport staging, production and the six 400amp generators for the show. This will definitely be a Close Encounter!
If your looking to buy tickets for "Robbie Williams: Close Encounters" here in Sydney, you'll probably need the ticketek site HERE. You can also visit the official Robbie Williams site right HERE. But i dont think you'l be able to steal any tickets there!
