Optimo return to Sydney

HAHA Industries is promoting their big show in February, the return of the Optimo Duo to Sydney.

They'll be playing on February 20th, Friday night, with HAHA DJs opening the floor before these sick Scottish puppies take the decks.

The Optimo Wikipedia page

"Optimo (Espacio) ('Optimum Space') is the name of a long-running (since 1997), Sunday-night club based in Glasgow, Scotland at the Sub Club on Jamaica Street, as well as a collective moniker for the night's resident DJ duo.

Often known simply as "Optimo," the club takes its name from the eponymous Liquid Liquid song and 1983 EP title. JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, the club's founders and resident DJs,[1] are also collectively known as Optimo and have toured in Europe, America, and Japan [2][3] and released music under that name. Renowned for its diverse music policy, the club retains a reputation for adventurous innovation and hedonism. The technical side of the club has been written about in the Guardian. [4] Twitch and Wilkes were described by Pitchfork Media in 2006 as being "one of the best DJ duos going right now."[5]"

Optimo is best described by their FAQ page:

"4) How can I get to dj at Optimo?

The simple answer is, you can't. We don't book djs, only live acts (although we would happily have Henry Rollins come and play his favourite records). The main reason being that we book what excites us and it's very rare that we get excited by djs. When we first started Optimo, we had a few djs play and let them know that they could play whatever they wanted, yet they mostly played very conservative sets (an honourable exception here must go to Mr. Ashley Beedle). So, we decided that was it and funnily enough our 'Kill All DJs' slogan from 1998 seems to have been appropriated left, right and centre. "

Sure, I'm aware that the picture I've posted here looks like the double mug shot for a couple of nefarious villains, out of costume and with energy fields sapping their dastardly powers. The dude on the right probably can turn anything into fishsticks, just by touching it, and the bearded fellow is probably a pacifist in name only, but has a crew of underlings to do his dirty work.

Here's a video from Glasgow of their 2007 Halloween gig:
