The Museum of Sydney built by NSW's first Governor, Captain Arthur Phillip in 1788 is located on one of the city's most historic sites.
Built on the ruins of Australia's first Government House, the buildings foundations were successfully excavated by archaeologists in the 1980s and are now a centrepiece of the museum.
The governors' records, furniture and many other possessions are displayed and the museum extends over three floors, exhibiting colonial history and indigenous culture.
