Mardi Gras 2008
January 8th 2008 03:30
One of Sydney's biggest cultural event, the Mardi Gras, returns for another year with festivities kicking off on February 9.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Mardi Gras and show organisers intend to make the 2008 season one to remember. After the success of last year's launch with a ‘flash mob’ event, the 2008 launch will be just as creative with a special ‘Brave New Worlds’ celebration featuring a tree planting ceremony.
For the first time ever, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Festival will launch its ‘interactive festival event’ with MySpace.com where camera crews and ‘blogging areas’ will be scattered throughout the site for you to tell the world about your Mardi Gras memories, your hopes for a 'Brave New World' and your coming out story.
The festival culminates in the world famous Mardi Gras Parade which will take place between Hyde Park and the end of Oxford Street on March 1, 2008.
