Marcus Teague - Hopetoun Hotel May 25

Well, it was a long weekend - but now it’s back on the job! To start off this week and in (almost) closing out the 10 best things to do in may series, I though I would let you in on one of the best musicians you are ever likely to encounter.
That’s right, it's Marcus Teague.
I realise you may never have heard of him (or his band Deloris) but I can assure you that Marcus is an accomplished and talented man - hailing from Melbourne and with a unique way of communicating through his music. Marcus tells stories with his songs, with the kind of sincerity that requires listening to the song on repeat all night and reading the lyrics at the same time, and then sending him an email to ask what its all about (all of which I have actually done).
His lyrics and music are a clever composite of simplicity and narrative style that has continued to inspire me both as a musician and as a keen gig go-er. I think the element of Marcus and his music that has captured my interest the most is the honesty he exposes, he doesn’t disguise the rawness of his feelings and emotions (however they are sometimes difficult to find in his clever lyrical style) but uses them to captivate an audience. Marcus is one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets and if you come along to the Hopetoun Hotel gig, you’ll see why.
I don’t really think I have to sell Marcus to you, his music is excellent and is even better live than on CD, if you enjoy good alternative/folk/experimental music then you won’t miss this gig and you can guarantee that you’ll see me there! Marcus plays the Hopetoun Hotel on the 25th May.

If you like Marcus, you'll probably enjoy another show coming up at the Hopetoun featuring Sodastream, Grand Salvo & Seaworthy on 24 June.
