Hyde Park Barracks Museum

Located at the southern end of Macquarie Street in the heart of Sydney's CBD, the Hyde Park Barracks were built between 1818 and 1819.
As many as 50,000 convicts transported to New South Wales from around the old British Empire spent some time at the Barracks. Today, the Barracks has been transformed into a museum where visitors can discover the daily lives of convicts and other occupants through exhibitions on Sydney’s male convict labour force and to learn about the country's convict system.
