German Film Festival

The time has come around again to enjoy all of the laughs and tears of the German cinematic experience, it's the 2006 German Film Festival right here in Sydney! I can hear some of the sceptics already shouting something about not going to see a movie to read, but that just makes you uncultured and I will ignore your complaints.
This festival is quite large, running over 10 days from Thursday the 20th to Sunday the 30th of April and has several feature and short films every day. You might not speak German, but a difference in language shouldn't stop you from enjoying some of the excellent films coming out of Germany. Take some other foreign film examples; Nightwatch (in Russian) for example was an excellent film, same with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Passion of the Christ. All foreign, but still excellent. The language barrier shouldn't be the only reason you don't go to this festival, you should at least get out there and try to see at least one film, just to experience a little diversity in your cinematic experience.
The program is huge, so i wont go through it all (that's for the movie critic to do!) but all the titles and time can be found here, as well as some more general info about the festival.

We don't get many of them over here cos they don't tend to have the sex content of the French offerings, but gems like Run Lola Run are good ambassadors!
Let's face it though, there is some bad subtitling around. I was watching Brokeback Mountain in Spain and Jake asks Heath a question about whether he was close to his family or something similar, and Heath says, "I was" - but the subtitle just said, "Non." You don't need to speak Spanish to realise there's a lot lost there.
