Fixed n Fallen - Friday 12th May

I grew up listening to local bands. Back when I was younger (between 12-17) all I listened to was local music, and I still love it even now. Going to local gigs and festivals that feature local bands was where I found that I could be myself. Not in terms of look or because I never felt like I fit in, I was never particularly punk/alternative in that sense, but I enjoyed the atmosphere of being surrounded by people my own age, appreciating a type of music that epitomized being young.
I don’t really go to those kinds of gigs anymore, but I still love to support local band and events, either through my patronage or telling other people about it. This post is pretty much about the latter.
This Friday night at the Balmain Bridge Hotel there are a few local bands playing, and the one in particular that interests me is Fixed n Fallen. I hadn't heard any of their stuff until checking out their Myspace (found - Here), but when I did I was taken back to all of those gigs and festivals of my youth. While the quality of the recordings themselves are what you may expect from a live local gig, the quality of the performance is definitely of a high standard. If you like your local punk and hardcore, you will definitely hear the potential that I can hear on the live recordings they have on their site.
So if like me you have a taste for supporting local music, check these guys out, even if you can’t make it to the gig, check out their Myspace and listen to a few songs and catch the next one.
Fixed n Fallen are playing the Balmain Bridge Hotel on the 12th of May and in Wollongong on the 17th.
