Easter Show vs. The Great Escape

April 10th 2006 00:33
Its a hard choice at this time of year - go to the Easter Show to spend huge amounts of money on pointless things that you wont ever use or see again (novelty hats, blow up hammers, showbags etc) - or spend the same amount of money on possibly the best three days of your life.

Now dont get me wrong, the Easter Show is good, but you can't expect to go every year and find something new and different that will engage you for the whole day. Imagine if you went three days in a row... you would be bored out of your mind. Thats why this year i propose that you try something different this easter, get out there, get into The Great Escape.

The list of things to do is HUGE. The Great Escape offers three days of non-stop music on 5 stages, arts, film, markets, camping - all at The Newington Armory - just 20mins from the centre of Sydney. You may be thinking that the tickets look expensive, $260 for 3 days with camping, but think about the festivals you have the most fun at, Big Day Out, Homebake, Splendor in the Grass, Falls etc the prices are quite comparable when you consider that you will be having an awesome time for THREE whole days! You can also just go for the one day ($90) or 3 days without camping ($200).

If you are a music/festival lover, this is definately for you, there are a whole heap of good bands (Sigur Rós, Silverchair, Bernard Fanning, Xavier Rudd, Something For Kate, Eskimo Joe, The Beautiful Girls and many many more), i this even rouses a little interest you have to check out the Site to get all of the info... but you have to be quick, tickets are almost sold out.

Tickets through Ticketek or Moshtix

Try something different this year, ditch the Easter Show and check out The Great Escape!

so much fun for so much money!

Too bad you couldn't barter for tickets. You know, just give them a lamp or something and walk right through the gate.

The $260 ticket is for the diehard fans, you'd have an awesome time with just the one day for $90... just think about it in comparison to the easter show a show link ticket is $30 a drink and something to eat is another $20 rides are $5 each and if you get a couple of showbags then you've easily made up the $90... also at the great escape you dont have to walk around with animal matter on the ground EVERYWHERE...

barter system is good, although i dont think a lamp would cover it
