Clark Island is an one hectare island off Darling Point in Sydney's east and draws its name from Lieutenant Ralph Clark, a marine officer who tried to cultivate a vegetable garden on the island after arriving in Australia in 1788.
The idea of a vegetable garden was abandoned after his crops were repeatedly stolen and today, the island is a public recreational area mainly used for picnics. With breathtaking views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House from the water's edge, other facilities of the island includes drinking water, picnic tables and toilets.
The number of people is restricted to 30 per group with a maximum island capacity of 150 people. The island is also available for hire.
