A Hard God - Theatre

Category: Art & Theatre Events
This week isn't all about youth, for the culturally inclined, some theatre is definately in order:
A Hard God
The Cassidys wrestle with God, but theirs is not a benevolent Lord. He is harsh, even cruel, yet they cling to their faith with a stoicism and thousand-mile gaze born of adversity. The three brothers all do God’s work in their own ways; Martin through fighting the red infiltration of workers on the Warragamba Dam, Paddy resisting temptation and trying to keep the illusion of family together; and Dan, slowly losing his sight but remaining true to a vision of grace and humility.
In the midst of them all is Aggie, married to Dan through good times and bad, for whom the weight of heaven seems more burdensome than anyone else. Come what may, they still have their hard God. It is the younger members of the family who face the future, especially Joe, sixteen and entering manhood, making a decision about himself, his family and the church…
With Ralph Cotterill, Max Gillies, David Lyons, Ben Mathews, Maeliosa Stafford, Kerry Walker and Jacki Weaver
Director Denis Moore
