53rd Sydney Film Festival

The other day I had a complaint from kev that I don’t give enough notice for upcoming events, so I’ve got the jump on what’s happening early next month (at the expense of a convent and easy post at the start of next month).
It’s the 53rd annual Sydney Film Festival and while film may be the domain of our lovable Movie Critic, Cibby on 20/20 Filmsight, I think that this event is definitely worth a mention on Sydney Diary. Film is an incredible medium, it has the power to inspire, intrigue and allow the audience to visualise worlds of fantasy and wonder that they may otherwise have never known.
The Sydney Film Festival in particular is an event that showcases some of the talent of the Sydney film scene that may have otherwise gone unnoticed but for a brief showing in an independent art-house cinema (like Dendy Cinemas), to be seen by few and ignored by many.
This year the festival has a particular emphasis on the revitalisation of the local film industry, with captivating documentaries, moving drama and the inspiring Australian short films. The festival runs for a lengthy period, from the 9th to the 25th of June, so you should reasonably be able to make it to at least one film. The ticket prices are what you would expect for a trip to the cinema ($13-$17), and if you're a real movie buff, you can grab a flexi-pass (10, 20 or 30) making your cinematic experience a little cheaper.
The Sydney Film Festival runs at a few venues, with most of the films run at Dendy, State theatre and George st cinemas.

Chuck, i appreciate the commenting, but could you possibly keep it on topic? If you really want, i will create a whole post dedicated to Chuck, and you can say anything you like on it.
